Benefits of Having a Wedding Theme

Benefits of Having a Wedding Theme

When planning your wedding, one of the easiest ways to have cohesion among the different elements of your special day is to have a themed wedding. Many people think of wedding themes as dressing in costume or doing something completely off the wall. But they can be classy and elegant while also creating a wedding day that will be hard for your guests to forget.

Whether or not you realize it, themed weddings are very popular at the time. You commonly see weddings designed around a season or holiday. The theme of a wedding can also be a general design element. For example, you can have a rustic wedding, a nautical wedding, or a crystal wedding. Weddings can be centered around tree branches, a monogram, or acorns. There are a multitude of options when deciding the theme for your wedding. One of our favorites, though, is a peacock wedding.

It is much easier it is to plan a themed wedding compared to a non-themed wedding. Wondering what color palette to use? If you're having a peacock themed wedding, just find an image of a peacock and choose your favorite colors represented. Choosing your stationary? Go for your favorite peacock adorned wedding invitations and paper goods. When meeting with your florist you can have him or her include peacock feathers in your bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces. You could have your baker include a peacock design or peacock feathers on your cake. When you have a themed wedding, the decisions you make for the details of your wedding day can be made quickly and easily because they will all already be narrowed down into a handful of options and you can just choose whatever you like the most.
When choosing a theme for your wedding, you should go for something that fits your personality as a couple. If you are ritzy and elegant, a country theme is probably not the best for you. On the other hand, if you are love being in the outdoors an expensive crystal themed wedding may not be your best fit. Think about different design elements that you both like or things you both enjoy to get an idea for your wedding theme. For example, if you love sailing a nautical wedding may be perfect. If you love going to the beach you could base your wedding around seashells or sand dollars. If you are considering using our favorite, a peacock themed wedding, you should be outgoing and passionate about life. Peacock feathers represent beauty and pride and are perfect for the couple who loves to be the center of attention.

While making decisions about the details of your wedding day, try to choose the option that best fits your theme, your preferences, and your taste. Never include something in your wedding that you believe is tacky or not your favorite option just because it fits your theme. Themed weddings should be personal and show your style, not just a cookie-cutter product. Make sure that you always choose the decor and personal touches that best represent your taste and preferences no matter what wedding theme you choose.

Halloween Wedding Flowers - Accentuate Your Wedding

A Halloween inspired wedding is never complete without wedding flowers to complete the mood. You have to choose the right set of flowers to make the entire setting of your wedding event truly compatible with your theme.

You might find this non-traditional like and very inappropriate for a sacred ceremony such as a holy ceremony but these ideas are not desperate attempts to desanctify the ceremony. The main purpose of these Halloween weddings is to simply make the event memorable not only for the bride and groom but for the guests as well.

A wedding ceremony based on Halloween is only an attempt to "dress-up" the wedding, but the essence and the whole purpose of the ceremony still remains intact.

A Halloween wedding is not complete without wedding flowers to match. This is important because you do not want your wedding to be a conglomeration of different sort of motifs. You want a wedding that is solid and has just one theme. And so it is important that you are able to choose the appropriate wedding flowers.
It is not that difficult to choose the perfect flower that will go with your theme. Just go with flowers with deeper colors to make it more noticeable. You can never go wrong orange hawkweed, brown hydrangeas, purple aster, and orange roses. You may also choose among orange Asiatic lilies, green button mums, and orange poppy. These kinds of flowers will give the necessary effect that you like to enhance the general impact of your wedding. However, do not over do it. Too much of these flowers may take away the attention of the guests from the other details that can be neglected if you bought too much of these.

Furthermore, do not put the Halloween wedding flowers where they should be as is. A series of orange and brown flowers can be boring if not accented properly. There are lots of other things that you can do with these flowers to make it more interesting and an art in it. Make it more interesting by adding a candle stand at the center of a bouquet. You may also tie silver or gold ribbons on its stems to create some contrast and break the monotony.

As for the bridal bouquet, you may use black magic roses. These roses are perfect for your theme since its petals are so red they almost look black. Depending on your angle, the petal may be either red or black for your perception.

Remember that the kinds Halloween wedding flowers that you should use are some of the only things that you should consider in planning for any kind of wedding. The most important thing that should always be remembered is the essence of the wedding, which is the union of two people. In the end, years after the marriage, people will less likely remember how grand the wedding have bee. The only thing that they will see if you are still married or not.

These are just some of the very interesting things that you can do with Halloween wedding flowers.

Nature Inspired Wedding Theme Ideas

"Cherry Blossom" Wedding Theme

The bloom of the cherry tree is a symbol of natural beauty. The cherry blossom has become a very popular wedding theme due to the emergence of spring and the colors inspired by the pink and white blossoms. You can find great formal bridal dresses beautifully designed on the market. Elegant and attractive wedding blossom invitations, decorative cherry blossom cakes and blossom wedding favors are great to use for this theme. The accessories are unlimited. The cherry blossom wedding theme is great for spring season weddings and symbolizes the start of a new relationship.

"Be Green" Wedding Theme

Do you want to "Be Green" and focus on the environment? You can use this as your wedding theme! Many natural and green items can be incorporated in a "green wedding theme" to encourage caring for the environment. Flowers seeds or a nice little organic plant pot used as a favor for your guests can honor and start protecting our world.

Part of your wedding accessories could be to select a green apple or lime (color) for a cool, fresh and modern look. Select organic materials for tablecloths, napkins and maybe for the bridesmaid dresses. Decorate the reception with plants, greenery and shrubs for a natural feeling on your special day. Remind everyone how important it is to partake in caring for the earth.

"Sea World" Wedding Theme

I recommend the "Sea World" wedding for couples who really love the beauty and inspirations of sea life. Maybe you will be inspired by starfish, seashells or the huge variety of ocean fish and corals.
You can find great favors like stoppers, candle holders, cake toppers and decorative dishes accented with shells, dolphins and starfish. A message in a bottle with a short poem inside is the perfect invitation to reflect your theme. And don't forget that you can spread sand over the center of the tables to complement a unique centerpiece.

"Inspirational Garden" Wedding Theme

Do you love flowers? I think when we see a beautiful garden with wonderful and different colorful flowers, they give inspiration for paintings, photos or even wedding themes.

Don't think that by using all these colors your wedding will end up looking like a carnival. It all depends on how you pick the details and items to show off the colors in a sophisticated way. Select two or three colors from beautiful flowers that can be an inspiration for your wedding and mix those flowers into the reception and decorations. Wedding planners and magazines are a great help.

"Passion of Coffee" Wedding Theme

This theme was started because coffee is the number one favorite drink in the world. Very delectable and with an exquisite aroma it will be one of your favorite themes. Create centerpieces filled with the natural coffee beans and candles.

For favors buy gourmet coffee beans, coffee candles, or coffee chocolate candies. If your wedding is small you can serve coffee cocktail at your reception.

There are so many ideas to help the brides create an inspirational and beautiful wedding day.

Centerpieces For Halloween Weddings

If your wedding is taking place on Halloween, the big day is right around the corner! Along with the usual decorations, you will surely want to have spectacular centerpieces that fit with the theme of your wedding. From the classic to the unexpected, these are some great ideas for Halloween wedding centerpieces.

There are several different approaches that a couple can take towards a Halloween wedding. You can be very literal and really pay tribute to the holiday, or you can go for more of a Gothic inspired wedding plan. Whichever you choose, you will want to be sure to have decorations that reinforce your wedding theme.

The most classic way to design a Halloween wedding is to really take the theme of the holiday and run with it. This might mean the bride in a non-traditional red or black dress with custom bridal jewelry, rather than the traditional white gown and demure accessories. If this sounds like your style, then personalized jack o'lanterns would be ideal for your centerpieces. This is no time for the basic face on a pumpkin, however; your wedding decorations call for something intricate and spectacular. Carve each pumpkin with a different spooky scene, such as a graveyard, complete with the initials of the newlyweds on one of the tombstones!

Another idea for jack o'lantern centerpieces is to use three smallish pumpkins and place them on a tiered stand, like the sort typically used for pies. Designs to consider would be the newlyweds' monogram, Halloween motifs such as black cats and monsters, or even the faces of the bride and groom, if you have a talented enough pumpkin carver (rendering an accurate likeness is actually not as hard as it sounds). At the base of the three tiered stand, place clusters of fall flowers like mums and asters for more color.

You can also take a more elegant Gothic approach to a Halloween wedding. Picture the bride in a black ball gown with custom bridal jewelry in black or dark red crystals. For the decor, skip the orange pumpkins in favor of candles and flowers. But these are not your typical white or pink wedding flowers; think Gothic and dark.

Tall black candelabras with dark red taper candles would look magnificent on the dinner tables for a Halloween wedding. Dark red roses like Black Magic or flowers in a deep purple would be the perfect complement to the black candelabras. You can have the flowers dripping off of the candelabras or surrounding them in vases with a Gothic flair. Either way, the results will be impressive.

A Halloween wedding might not be for everyone, but if that is the wedding date that you have selected, then by all means play it up. Whether your style is spooky, Gothic, or rustic and playful, you can really enhance your wedding reception with Halloween themed centerpieces. You can be sure that your wedding will be one that no one will ever forget!

Wedding Planning: Creating a Rainbow Theme Wedding

You are a happy, bright and fun loving couple so you've chosen a rainbow theme for your wedding day. What an exciting wedding theme. In this article I'm going to give you a few wedding planning ideas to incorporate this fun rainbow theme so that it is still elegant and stylish.

The first thing you think of when hear the word rainbow is many colours, beautiful colours. How can you incorporate the seven colours of the rainbow into your wedding decor? Well firstly, let's remind ourselves of what the seven colours are. They are red, yellow, orange, green, blue, indigo (a blue/purple colour) and violet. I suggest that the first place to start is with your flowers. You can have centrepieces and flower arrangements have one or two of each of these colours in each arrangement. You can do the same with the bouquets.

Choose two of these colours for your table cloths or overlays then lay each table alternately with the colour table cloths, for example, one table will have yellow and the next orange, the next one yellow then orange, and so forth. Do the same with the chair tiebacks. You could three of the colours for your draping, say yellow, blue and violet.

Your wedding planner can help you with these ideas and also with the wedding stationery. You can ask your wedding planner to create wedding invitations that incorporate all the colours in an elegance way. Perhaps choose a red and yellow invitation and add small details with each colour, such as a violet ribbon, orange paper and green leaf inside and a blue and indigo décor item. Then do the same with your menus, name cards and seating plan. Be sure to use the colours in the same way for each item of wedding stationery as you don't want the colours to run away with you.

Decorate a white wedding cake with each of the colour flowers that you have chosen for your flower arrangements. At the top of the cake have your baker create a bride and groom standing under a rainbow. This way it will tie into your theme perfectly. Why not have also have your bridesmaids wear different colour dresses too, one red, one yellow, one blue, one green and one purple.

Then have some fun with the wedding souvenir ideas. You could have rainbow decorated gift boxes with colourful sweets, such as jelly beans, inside. Or use the different colour tissue paper to wrap up little souvenirs and tie each one with a different colour ribbon. Maybe have different colour Christmas baubles printed with your names.

As you can see, you can do so much with a rainbow theme and it can look elegant and fun at the same time. I hope that you can picture it.

Orchid Weddings - A Popular Trend

Orchid wedding flowers are said to be a popular favorite among brides. This is because of the orchid's exotic and colorful blooms. Orchids in weddings seem to give a more refreshing and oriental feel. Orchids were a sign of wealth and social standing in the UK. There are a number of orchid varieties used in weddings, the most popular of which is the cymbidium orchid. These orchids have large heads, with white, yellow, pink and pale green colors. They have big waxy petals, which put them in advantage to other flowers since it is more resistant to drying.

One way of appreciating the elegance of orchids is to simply cut the flower heads and float them in a large flat vase filled with water. This type of displaying orchids can also serve as centerpieces in reception tables especially during weddings. Orchid weddings quickly became a trend due to its fragrance, beauty and timeless elegance. If there were a flower to symbolize refinement and beauty, then it would be the orchid. The orchids' reputation as a hard to grow and handle flower only adds to its stature as an elegant statement in weddings.

Of the hundreds of types of orchids, there are only three main species, the cattleya, the dendrobium and the phalaenopsis. The catlleya is popular for corsages. It displays large frilled blooms with an extraordinary tropical fragrance unlike any other. The dendrobium is also called the Singapore orchid. It has around ten or more flowers on each spray. It is said to be more for dainty and refiner arrangements due to the arrangement and size of their petals. This would definitely look good in weddings. The third one, which is the phalaenopsis resembles a moth because of its petals.

Orchids in weddings really shine if the atmosphere of the wedding is somewhat tropical or in the garden. Like a beach wedding or a wedding at the groom's or bride's huge estate. Although orchids also look great in indoor weddings, it's like experiencing freshness of nature inside the building. Some other wedding florists and planners mix orchids with non-orchid varieties. Or, they make orchids either the focal point of the arrangement or the minor detail of the numerous flower arrangements in weddings.

Either way, the orchids look stunning and bring about the elegance in the flower arrangement. Orchids in weddings add to the timeless memories that the whole event can bring. Orchids in weddings, others say, also symbolize perfection, so it really is no wonder that orchids come across every bride's mind whenever she considers her wedding decorations. These ever so elegant flowers also have religious meanings. People say that the spots on the orchids' petals resemble that of Christ's making the orchid a sort of good symbol for a blessed marriage.

So for those who are planning for weddings and other beautiful events, why not include, if not, make sure that orchids are used for the flower arrangements? It will surely bring the desired effects of calmness, joy, and elegance of whatever celebration there is. Orchids may be used as centerpieces, wedding bouquets, corsages, and even relaxants in spas and hotels. There are lots of varieties of orchids to suit your needs and your personality. There is definitely a strong recommendation for using orchids in weddings.

Flowers for a Valentine Wedding: Getting Married on the Most Romantic Day of The Year

Are you planning to get married on Valentine's Day? If so, you are amongst the most romantic people in the world. Clearly, your love for your partner runs deep and you want to showcase your undying love for each other on this most romance centered day of the year. What colors and what theme should you choose for your flowers, your wedding attire and your décor for your Valentine's Day wedding? Isn't it obvious?

The classic colors for Valentine's Day are of course red, white and pink. Most people who get married on this romantic holiday include red in their décor and their flowers and many use heart accents. Heart shaped rhinestones in the bride's and the bridesmaid's bouquets as well as in the groom's and ushers boutonnieres are good examples of a classy way to integrate hearts in your wedding flowers. Other ways to include a heart theme at your wedding are: A heart shaped cake topper, a heart shaped balloon arch either at the reception hall entrance or behind the head table.

As for centerpieces, you could go with simple balloon bouquets composed of red and white balloons with heart prints on them or you may choose a floral centerpiece with heart shaped accents flowing out of the bouquets. A final touch to your centerpieces would be heart confetti on the guest tables, the head table and the cake table.

Flowers represent romance and therefore should be an integral part of your Valentine wedding. Obviously, the most popular romantic flower is the red rose. Symbolizing love, respect and admiration, the rose is the ideal flower to choose for your wedding bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres and centerpieces. If you decide to go with balloons for centerpieces, you can include rose petals as accents on the tables. As for the flower girl, she should be holding a basket filled with rose petals to scatter down the wedding aisle as she paves the way for the bride's grand entrance. (Check with your wedding venue to make sure they allow fresh petals, if not, they would probably be O.K. with silk petals.)

What if roses are not your thing? There are other flowers that would also do a wonderful job at setting the tone for your romantic valentine's day wedding. Carnations, orchids, lilies, daisies or tulips would all be acceptable substitutes for the rose if you are anti-rose. However, the fact remains that the ideal wedding flowers for a Valentine wedding would definitely include red roses, possibly combined with pink roses for a splash of light pink or a few white calla lilies to add even more class to your Valentine bouquet.

1. Japanese or Chinese
There are many Asian countries in the East whose wedding traditions you can copy on your own. However, the Japanese and Chinese cultures are the more popular ones. You can easily look for decorations, materials and details that will go about with the traditions of these two countries, considering that the Western world has embraced the elements of these oriental cultures.

2. Have Fun with the Colors
Once you have opted to take on an Oriental wedding, then you can freely consider wonderful colors in your wedding day. Generally speaking, white is not the best choice for a gown in an Asian wedding. In the oriental culture, white is the color of death. It is not wise to stick with white if you are going all out oriental. Red is the lucky color, together with black. These two colors are believed to bring the marrying couple luck and prosperity in the days to come. So it will be great to consider these color schemes and experiment on the new choices that you have. You can actually consider surveying your local community for designers that have knowledge of the Asian styles. The online community also gives a lot of choices for providing ideas when it comes to genuine Oriental apparel.

3. Simplicity and Elegance
An Asian bride will naturally display her beauty by exuding elegance in her simplicity. This means that you have to seek for a gown with simple lines and not too many embellishments. Use fabrics that are truly reflective of Oriental style. Choose for footwear strappy sandals that will complement the elegant gown. The best detail that an Asian bride focuses on is her hairstyle. It must not be wavy or curly or let loose. The hair must be styled with a dramatic flair to complement the simple gown.

There is a wide range of choices when it comes to details. You can have paper lanterns, origami or pottery decorations. You can also put up a small pond with the koi fish swimming in it. Orchids and lilies are wonderful options for the flowers. You can also put small fishbowls in the center of the table with white and black stones in it. Just consult your wedding planner for a more coordinated scheme of your choices.

5. Wedding Favors
You can have fun too with the wedding favors that you will give to your guests. One of the popular choices couples do is to give out fortune cookies. Guests have fun in reading some predictions. It is also a tradition to give out seed packets that can be grown by the guests in their households. This is a symbolism of the love of the couple that will continue to grow. For a more practical choice, you can have some of your wedding favors become the decoration itself in the wedding tables. Bamboo stalks are used to signify good luck. The guests can simply pick it up after the celebration as a wonderful memento.

Conclusion
Consider the tips and notes provided above and you will definitely enjoy a delightful Oriental celebration on your wedding day.

How to Design an Afternoon Tea Wedding

"To be married means we belong with someone else, that we are no longer always alone,... that there is a parallel presence and spirit in all that we undertake. We are bridled, connected, attended. We move in the midst of the aura, the welcoming soul-filling presence of another human being."--Daphne Kingma, Weddings from the Heart

This article is the first in a series about planning your wedding or commitment ceremony and celebrating your marriage with the charm and warmth and romance of an afternoon tea theme.

Designing Your Afternoon Tea Wedding - Initial Considerations
Location
Most people choose to tie the knot in a church or synagogue or other place of worship. To support the tea theme, you might consider an older church or Victorian decorations. But if you are considering an other places for your ceremony, how about a country Bed and Breakfast or cottage? They often have deep front porches and Victorian décor and some have afternoon tea built into their schedules. Or, you could have an outdoor wedding beneath a gazebo or by a lake. Are you thinking about a destination wedding? A Bed and Breakfast hotel in England would fit in even better with the afternoon tea theme!

Time of Day
The typical time for an afternoon tea is 4pm, so if you like the idea of having your reception at that time, then your wedding would need to be an hour or so before that time. Truthfully, though, any afternoon time would be fine.

Planning a Coffee Wedding - 3 Easy Steps

If "Coffee" is the theme for your wedding, look to these 3 steps to provide ideas for incorporating the theme into all aspects of your wedding!

Invitations: There are several ways to incorporate the theme in your invitations. One way, which tends to be whimsical, is to have a java motif as part of the invitation design. A quick search on 'coffee invitations' will bring up many options for you, from the very casual to the more formal. If you are still looking for a more traditional wedding invitation, then think incorporating a brown bean color as part of the invitation, whether it is the border, a damask pattern, the font color, etc. Brown and Ivory is a beautiful color combination that lends itself perfectly to a formal occasion such as a wedding.

Of course an important part of coffee is its rich aroma. So put a bean or two in each envelope to scent the invitation. When your guests open the invitation they will immediately understand that java is going to have a starring role at the wedding!

Have A Coffee Bar at the Reception: And make sure that knowledgeable baristas are staffing it; it will definitely add to the ambiance. Offer several different types (a bold, a lighter roast, a flavored and a decaf are ideal) as well as all the fun additions that people can add on their own (cocoa, cinnamon, cream, etc.). Of course have lattes, cappuccinos, frappuccinos, and espresso available at the bar. Having personalized coffee cup sleeves made for occasion is a very nice touch - one that is unexpected and fun.

A Java Inspired Wedding Favor Is A Must: What could be more appropriate than sending home your guests with a 'thank you' gift of coffee? Many sites now offer packages with personalized labels but, before you order, make sure that the description tells you what kind of bean the coffee is made from. You don't want to give bad coffee which, unfortunately, is what some favor sites offer.

Or talk to a local café whose blend you happen to like and see if you could purchase 2 or 4 oz. sizes and then make your own wedding label to stick on it.

Another lovely favor would be to give each guest a 'gift card' for a coffee drink at a brand that has stores in most cities (Starbucks, Caribou, etc.). Put it in a personalized gift card holder and you've got a terrific favor (one that won't be left behind). Personalized lottery ticket holders would also work as gift card holders. I hope this article helped you as you plan your coffee wedding.

Vintage Red Wedding Themes

Vintage Red Wedding Themes

A bride planning a vintage wedding has a lot to think about. Firstly she has to find the perfect dress, flowers and location. Next, she'll need to pick out dresses for the bridesmaid, clothing for the groom and his groomsmen and wedding table decorations. It's very important to pick out the dress, flowers and location before choosing the other parts of the wedding so that the bride can wear exactly what she wants, and then choose what goes with that outfit. The bouquet, flowers, location and dress are the most vital part of the wedding.

The perfect vintage wedding has a couple of things in common: it has the major theme, the clothing styles and the decorations. This not only makes the perfect wedding, it's the reason they are so perfect. What that means is that because you have a theme, you can tie everything together. It makes finding clothing easier, picking out decorations faster and narrowing down venues much easier. A vintage red wedding is even easier because it puts all of those aspects into perspective.

If, for instance, the couple wishes to have a 1920's wedding, they can narrow down the search of bridesmaid gown styles, shoe styles and even hairstyles. Dresses can be drop-waisted, flapper or an elegant mid-calf pencil skirt style. The roaring 20s actually had many different styles of dresses as the years progressed during the decade. You can find places online where pictures of the styles and patterns can be used, if you want the dresses specially made.

The 20s also offered speakeasies which are a great theme for the 1920s vintage wedding. Even better is the price you can get for a venue because what you need is a rundown back alley type of pub or bar to hold the reception. You can find an out of the way new business and get a cost for their open bar and it works out even better if they have a food license. If they don't you'll have to find another venue, or hold a drink and pretzel only type of reception party.
